Entrench yourselves in Chianti, staying four nights in a beautiful Tuscan Residence. With your own private guide, you will explore a little more of the region each day.

Engage the senses with tastings and observations of the local artisans at work.

Arrival – Frescoes & Tea

Transfer from Pisa or Florence to eastern Chianti, to family owned 4-star Residence in a tiny borgo (hamlet) in Chianti.

Check-in, enjoy a light lunch and orientation of the grounds and area. Your home base for the next four night has an extremely panoramic position, close to Chianti and in the middle of a triangle of art formed by Florence, Siena and Arezzo. It’s an ideal place to stay for those who want to spend a completely relaxing vacation in natural surroundings, while being able to easily reach the most important historical and artistic places in Tuscany.

Afternoon Frescoes & Tea: Transfer to the Setteponte where we’ll stop in to visit studio where two brothers do impressive fresco restoration in the local parish churches. Continue on a few kilometres up the road where we’ll visit a local herbalist who is making Tuscan tea with his own planted herbs. A walk through Federigo’s stunning garden followed by tea tasting.

Return to your residence for an evening orientation of the area.

Wine & Pecorino Cheese

We take a quick drive to a nearby valley where we’ll learn the ins and outs of pecorino (sheep cheese). The subtle details from the herbs and grasses the sheep feed on, the sheepherder’s style, the environment where it is made and stored; the final taste is a real marriage of high quality milk, curdling compounds (rennet), salting and aging processes. We’ll enjoy a light cheese tasting with local wines.

From here we will drive towards the Pratomagno massif, where we’ll visit Loro Ciuffenna listed as one of the prettiest borghi (villages) in Italy. Visit of the town, the local organic shop and one of the oldest standing mills, as well as an exquisite Romanesque pieve, parish church.

Following we will call upon a local family winery where winemaker Roberto shares his philosophy and passion around the making of Chianti Classico and other wines made with local, indigenous grapes. We’ll combine our tasting of his wines with a beautiful lunch of local specialities.

Enjoy a nice stroll through the vineyards and around the farm before return to our Residence for a swim or rest.

Dinner at your leisure.

Terracotta Producers & Olive Oil

This morning we visit the terracotta production studios were we learn all about the history of the rich, durable terracotta clay.

We’ll continue on just up the road to meet Stefano and his beautiful family who loving tend their olive trees and produce the most wonderful olive oil. Lunch with the family at the mill.

Return to your residence for a relaxing afternoon.

Arezzo & Chocolate Artisan Visits

Early morning transfer to Arezzo for our first stop with Danilo Vestri to learn all about his artisan Tuscan chocolate production (followed by a tasting).

We then transfer a short distance into the city centre. Here we meet with local guide Giuseppe, who introduces us to the sights of Arezzo. This is a place for art lovers and shopping fans. The handsome medieval square is one of the main attractions, and may be recognised from the Oscar winning film “Life is Beautiful”.

Following your walking tour, there will be time for lunch in town at a favourite local spot, then you are free to explore Arezzo.

Evening free to enjoy your choice of activity or restaurant.
