Switzerland
Switzerland’s wine has been a well-kept secret, since the Swiss drink up most of their delicious wine before it leaves their borders. If you venture to this sophisticated country, you can try their coveted flagship grape, the Chasselas, which features in numerous Swiss whites. Chasselas were found to have originated on the shores of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva), therefore a visit to Lac Léman, amongst the UNESCO protected Lavaux vineyards, is a must. Sip an aperitif on a terrace overlooking the alps, enjoy a traditional Swiss raclette (melted cheese scraped over boiled potatoes) and ponder which vineyard to visit next.
